About the Role
Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for someone to join the business as a Transport Planner. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to establish themselves in an expanding Company and wishes to develop themselves in the transport industry. The individual needs to be a team player and is able to succeed in a fast-paced working environment. The successful candidate must have an outgoing personality and is motivated in their work.
Responsiblefor: As a Transport Planner you will work in a team and be responsible for the day-to-day running of the HGVs. You will help manage all planning for all the drivers, liaising with all customers, ensuring that drivers depart in time, compiling and processing of all information and issuing details of jobs to drivers through our planning software.
Hours: Monday– Friday on a rota basis; week 1- 7:00am – 16:00pm week 2 – 8:00am - 17:00pm / Flexible to work weekends where required
MainDuties:
· Effectively and efficiently plan and manage all driver’s daily work
· To effectively communicate to customers depots, third parties and colleagues in a professional manner
· To build a good rapport with the drivers
· To assist in answering incoming calls and e-mails and deal with appropriately
· To assist the transport team in briefing all drivers in the morning and de-briefing drivers on their return, to ensure effective communication on expectations and requirements going forward
· To assist in finding additional work and finding loads to minimise empty running
· Continually monitor all collections and deliveries
· Assist the Transport Supervisor and Transport Manager where required
EssentialRequirements:
· Previous experience working in a transport industry is essential
· Previous experience working in bulk haulage advantageous but not essential
· To be able to work in a fast paste, ever changing environment
· Good problem-solving skills
· Good understanding of tachograph and driver hours
· Good geographical knowledge
· Effective communication is a must
· Excellent organisation skills
· Minimum 2 years transport experience
· Good IT skills
· Able to work as part of a team
· Valid UK driving licence
